Subject: Learning Management System (LMS) Announcement

Good Afternoon!

It’s official! We are pleased to announce that the Learning Management System (LMS) is now available to your department. This is not the new system for EPE’s. You may use the LMS to locate self-paced training and instructor-led learning events by logging in to the system at http://lms.coh.gov. Please note that you must access the LMS through a computer connected to the City of Houston network. It does not work from outside networks.

The LMS is primarily used for scheduling learning events. Those events can include class room training, online learning, and a wide variety of other activities. Currently, the E.B. Cape center is rolling out learning functionality courses while future performance functionality is being prepared.

To help get you started using the LMS, we have prepared a brief 15-minute video introduction to the system, which you can view at your convenience. You may access the video tutorial through the choice.cityofhouston.net page, or directly at http://www.houstontx.gov/capecenter/LMS/Scott/default.htm

As you begin to use the system, we ask that you report any problems you may experience through your local help desk. The help desk will take your call and will prepare a report through their ticketing system. If your problem goes beyond their expertise, they will escalate the call to a Training Liaison for your department. If the Training Liaison cannot help you, he or she will escalate the issue to the departmental LMS Administrator. The name of your departmental representative is shown below.

Thanks in advance to all of you for your participation in this important initiative!
